Newborn Hearing

1. Education and Training for Newborn Hearing Screening Programme

The NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) aims to identify children with hearing loss as early in life as possible.

2. Resources for new NHSP staff

NHSP provides training materials to enable and support local programmes to deliver a quality screening programme.

All staff new to NHSP must have their contact details added to the NHSP contacts database.

All new local managers and team leaders must inform the screening helpdesk: when they start in post.

Operational guidance is available to support healthcare professionals and stakeholders delivering and managing newborn hearing screening programmes in England.

Click on the relevant link in the menu to the left to access the training information and resources available for staff new to NHSP.

3. NHSP surveillance and referral guidelines

This publication is now available on GOV.UK.

E-learning for the NHS Screening Programmes moved to Health Education England's e-learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) website on 3 April 2017.
