Warwick Health Screening Module, 8th course will be running Nov 27 - Dec 1 2017

Warwick Medical School, in conjunction with NHS Screening Programmes, has developed a health screening module which is available as a postgraduate award, a non-accredited CPD course  or as part of the Masters in Public Health programme.

The module looks at how to determine when screening is an appropriate intervention, through the analysis of ethical, performance and economic issues, and how screening programmes can be effectively monitored and improved.

The UK NSC is pleased to announce that it can once again fund a few limited places in 2017. The application process for a funded place will commence in early June 2017 and the application form will be available for download below. The closing date for applications for funding is tbc here. Applications for attendance on the course should be made direct to Warwick University. Students who are applying for funding also need to apply direct to Warwick for a place on the course. For more information, see the flyer below or contact the screening helpdesk.

Course evaluation has been overwhelmingly positive.

Here's some feedback received on the modules to date:

I just wanted to say an enormous thank you for awarding me funding to attend the module. I found the whole week to be thoroughly engaging & brilliantly taught. I learnt so much.

I really do think that anyone involved in the management of a screening programme at any level would benefit enormously from attending & I will be recommending to my peers that they consider applying next year.

Screening Programme Manager, 2016 Cohort

I have now had my results and have passed the module.
I have to say that it was most enjoyable and I feel that I gained a great deal from it.
Many thanks for the opportunity and the funding. I am most appreciative.

Screening Co-ordinator, NHS, 2015 cohort

Attending the module has given me a real buzz to seek and search the issues and do something about them like preventing screening creep, getting providers to engage with the deprived areas, collating data to evidence local issues and to share what I have learnt with my colleagues in the screening
team.

Screening and Immunisation Co-ordinator, PHE, 2013 cohort

I just wanted to say thank you to the UK NSC for the support I received in undertaking the health screening module at Warwick University in 2010/2011. Receiving a funded place was of great personal and professional value. I enjoyed the module and learnt more than I expected, if I'm honest!

I extended the module to cover my maternity leave and now I'm back at work I can honestly say the course has changed the way I look at my role and my work.

NHS Trust Screening Co-ordinator

Thank you for your support and funding, it was a very interesting module and I feel I have benefited from attending and feel more confident in supporting health screening programmes.
